Sacraments and Intentions

Baptism

The sacrament of Baptism is normally celebrated on Sunday after the 12:30 PM Mass. Arrangements must be made in advance with the chaplain. Those preparing for the baptism of their first child must attend a baptismal preparation session.   Godparents who are not members of Our Lady’s Tridentine Mass Society must have a sponsor certificate from the pastor of their own parish.

Please contact Fr. Mangiafico for additional information.

Weddings

Couples wishing to celebrate their wedding in the Extraordinary Form should speak to the chaplain before making any other arrangements. Then they should contact the cathedral office at least six months in advance of the proposed wedding date to book the chapel.

Once that has been done the couple must complete all the other steps in the diocesan marriage preparation policy. After an initial session with the chaplain they must take the FOCUS inventory and attend a Pre Cana conference at the Bethany Retreat Center. When those steps have been completed they must attend a final session with the chaplain during which the details of the ceremony will be discussed.

Please contact Fr. Mangiafico for additional information.

Funerals

Funeral arrangements are made through the cathedral office. When doing so be sure to specify that you would like the funeral in the Extraordinary Form. At the family’s request the chaplain will be glad to lead a traditional wake service at the funeral home.

Please call the Cathedral of St. Jude, 727-347-9702 then inform Fr. Mangiafico.
